Fado - music of longing and waiting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sze5rpbklM When fado is mentioned, most of the younger audience first thinks of Mariza, the famous Portuguese singer, who today spreads the fame of this music genre around the world. However, fado was created centuries earlier, inspired by the difficult life of the Portuguese people, their daily worries, but also by the introduction of African rhythms and Portuguese poetry into music. The word fado comes from the Latin fatum, meaning "destiny". This music originated from troubadour ballads, expressing the longing and waiting for loved ones to return from long voyages to the time of great discoveries, but also under the influence of the Afro-Brazilian lundum - music and slave dance from South America. The central notion of fado is saudade which expresses a complex feeling of sadness, longing and melancholy.

Ja sam puno zaostala u muzici. Odnosno, ostala sam u osamdesetim i malo toga mi se svidja u danasnje vreme. Ali Mariza zaista lepo peva
There are two versions of the fado - sad Portuguese songs whose pain fills hearts with joy - named after cities, Lisbon and Coimbra. The Lisbon style is the most popular, while the Coimbra style is considered the more chosen. It is customary to flatten the fado in Lisbon, and in Coimbra they express their enthusiasm for the fado by coughing or making a sound as if clearing their throats. The music sings passionately about pain, love, loneliness, beauty, and fado. In addition to the inevitable sadness and chanting of pain, lively and even dance motifs can be found in it.
