The head of the central bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina, once again pointed to the regulator's skeptical attitude to digital currencies. This is reported by RBC. She spoke out against the use of cryptocurrencies for settlements between citizens. "We treat the so-called cryptocurrencies rather cautiously. This is a monetary surrogate, and we are against the fact that cryptocurrencies — I don't even want to call them money — are used for payments within the country," Nabiullina said. According to her, the transnational market of digital assets is difficult to limit at the national level. The head of the Bank of Russia stressed the inadmissibility of comparing cryptocurrencies and the digital ruble, since the latter is provided by the central bank. "We need to give citizens and businesses convenient means of payment, technologies allow us to do this. But this should be done at the national level, so that it is clear who is responsible, and not private anonymous individuals who issue incomprehensible crypto assets, " Nabiullina concluded. In February, the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation said that bitcoin is not a currency, and the growth of its price only "demonstrates the potential for volatility" of cryptocurrencies. #Cryptocurrency
