Sex For Grades, Sex For Jobs, A Moral Decadence or Institutional Failure( the African perspective)

So guys today I would like to share a prose poem I wrote describing some of the challenges the Ghanaian educational system faces and the victims it makes out of it's pupils... Make no mistake even in this modern era, the threat still looms... “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Train up a child in the way he should go: but who would be responsible for what he knows? Train up the child? Some never had it; parental love and guidance, moral upbringing, and yet we howl and growl at the tune of their results singing. To most of them it’s just a game, use what you have to get what you want. But who decides what you have? Tell me, who should really take the blame? Train up the child in the way he should go: what does it mean exactly? Are they being trained correctly? When knowledge keeps conflicting like the rain falling whiles the sun shines, why do we keep insisting that they are the problem. The “system” taught them to pride themselves in their academic pedigrees. “All you need is to give due diligence to your studies.” Behold, now the dream they paid so much money and spent years of their time in training to construct is nothing more than falling debris, and why won’t it be? “Even the hot water claims an academician because it’s boiling in degrees” they are told, followed by the diabolical smirk on the faces of their predators. See, your certificate can get you the interview but what qualifies you for the job is when your legs spread wide open like the world’s widest bridge cohabiting with the sarcophagus and the pyramids in the land of the Pharaohs. Despair echoes in the air. “What a shock” like the headline of an obituary posting. Oh but come on, they should have known better, after all it was the same with their former. This was the opium with which most of their mates climbed the academic ladder. Morality set up the highest standard but people in authority drunken from the abuse of power like the woman that sits upon the scarlet colored beast in the pages of revelation, brought down the hammer. Let me inquire your intellectual curiosity. Of what good is one’s moral standard when one can’t afford to feed one’s self? Of what use is burning the midnight candle if you’ll still need to be “laid” to get a “cert”. Tell me, what is the gain of morality? Again what is the role of institutions? After all when “push” comes to “shove”, the authority would have what the authority would have. “Train up the child in the way that he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Train up a child in the way that he should go: but who would be responsible for what he knows. Morality and institution, what should have been the chosen one, the Anakin Skywalker of society turned out to be the Darth Vader to their Star Wars.
