“The rejection of abaca is a national disgrace considering what it means to the world and to this country. Abaca is our premier fiber, the most resilient fiber in the world. It is the strongest, the most durable of natural fibers. It is inflammable and that is why it is used in cars and in cell phones, among its many other uses. It is able to withstand the effects of water without deteriorating. The world has known and appreciated it since the 19th century where Manila hemp, Manila rope and the Manila envelope came about because abaca is from the Philippines alone until some decades ago when other countries invested in cultivating abaca but are far from growing it to the same scale as ours or have it as a natural resource like we have.” Photo from this article 👉 https://www.manilatimes.net/2022/07/22/opinion/columns/colossal-error-not-repaired/1851797
