Another day looking for indicators of gold deposits in the Scottish highlands. This time near Glen Orchy. It was a tough trek to get to the spot we were looking at. We didn't find any nuggets today but we did get plenty of fine gold. Tomorrow we will go further up the hill hoping to find the source!
A cloudy and drizzly today around the village of Tyndrum but I still couldn't stay indoors. The days are getting short and I feel the snow is only weeks away.

Here is the finding from another day from last week prospecting for gold, this time in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. A lot of miles on foot covered this day but it was worth the effort!
A few small gold nuggets I found in the Scottish highlands this week. Been a lot of rain lately here and with winter coming in fast the season is nearly over.
Went a day trip yesterday to Loch Lomond which is part of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and went up Ben Lomond which is a mountain on the east side of the loch. After heart surgery last year it took quite a lot out of me but the fitness is coming back slowly but surely.
Another fine week on the hunt for gold deposits deep in the Scottish highlands at our now "secret" location! We revisited the spot from last week where I found a large nugget. Here is some pictures of the best of this weeks finds.
On the hunt for gold deposits in the highlands of Scotland this week turned up a rare gold nugget as well as the usual fine gold. It's getting warmer here albeit still very wet but who cares when you are finding gold nuggets!
I have been away on a short holiday with my wife the last few days in the Western Isles of Scotland also known as the Outer Hebrides. Here is a few pictures from a small portion of the Hebridean Way.
Took my nephew along the trail at Lairigmore on our bikes yesterday in the Scottish highlands. Nice sunny day & I think it's important to get the young ones out in the fresh air rather than sitting in front of a TV or computer screen all day.
The weather here in the Scottish highlands is finally starting to get a little warmer although still a little snow on higher ground. There is rumor of a sunny weekend for the Easter holiday in the south but here it's forecast rain so I'll grab this ray of sunlight while it's here!! 😭😂
Took a walk along the valley named Lairig Ghru in the Cairngorms National Park near the tourist town Aviemore. It was a lovely day for walking but still plenty of snow on higher ground.
Had a camping trip to Glencoe with he lads last night since the sun came out although still cold with snow on the hilltops. Here's a couple of pictures over looking Loch Leven, one at sunset and the other in the morning.
Been out for some long walks trying to get my fitness back to 100% after heart surgery last year. Being in hospital for a while then pretty much house bound I'm realizing how lucky I am to live in this area and how much I have taken it for granted. Heres a couple of pictures from my rambles around the village of Tyndrum over the last wee while.
First post in a while after an unexpected double heart bypass operation stopped me climbing the hills but finally back on my feet and back to work searching for gold deposits in the Scottish highlands.
A couple of pictures from yesterday from a special area with a few small gold chunks for our efforts.
Well, looks like the summers gone for now. 16 degrees and raining on and off here in the Scottish highlands. That don't stop us getting out and about. 5 miles hike today then I'm heading for a beer!!
All the best. 👍
Just back from a weekend at one of the most popular tourist locations in the Scottish highlands, Glencoe. Weather was perfect for walking at around 17 degrees but as always at this time of year it was swarming with midges...and the English!😂
Anyways...all the best. 👍
View of the the Isle of Bute in the distant and the Firth of Clyde here on the west coast of Scotland. What a cracker of a day. All the best.
This is the Old Pack Horse Bridge near the village of Carrbridge in the Cairngorms National Park. It's the oldest stone bridge in the Scottish highlands.
