Let’s talk about forgiveness because it’s misunderstood. It’s misinterpreted. And it’s something that can make you or break you. To forgive someone is: To make peace within. To let go. Too be able to move forward. To find closure. To set yourself free. We are all raised to believe forgiveness is a privilege we give to the person that hurt us and we win if we don’t forgive. We are strong if we don’t forgive. Not true. Forgiveness will bring peace. It’s about you and your feelings. It’s something that we cannot live or love without. It’s something we all need to do in every situation regardless of circumstances. It will prevent that experience from affecting our future relationships. Because without forgiveness we cannot let go of the anger, resentment, blame and we will carry them into our future, into other relationships and situations. If you choose not to forgive, you choose to hold on to those negative feelings, and they will never leave you. Forgiveness is not about the other person, it’s about you! You forgive for you, not for them. Kindness = Forgiveness = Inner peace And no matter what, you can always find the way to forgive even what seems unforgivable. Because it’s your choice. Because you are doing this for you more than them. So, what is it that you need to be able to forgive? Kindness Understanding Open mind To see the other’s point of view Selfless and calm approach Ability to let go To believe you can do this. And once you have forgiven them you’ll know exactly what to do and if this relationship has a future or not. Make it about you! Forgive! And watch those heavy chains you’ve been carrying, fall easily away.
