Just finished my first attempt on our Ethics quiz. The topic is about Kantian Ethics. I was kinda nervous since I only had 3 minutes to answer the question but thatnfully, I managed to answer each question correctly. Just to share a bit about what I learned. Kantian ethics argues that an action's moral worth is judged by the nature of its maxim instead of its consequences. An action's maxim is the principle which motivates the action. According to the philosopher Kant, maxims must be universally correct without any contradiction. Another thing that I liked about his ethics is that he believes it is wrong to use people as a means instead of an end. He argues that everyone is deserving of respect and thus their maxims must respected. Any act of deception or coercion to someone else is morally wrong. I think that Kantian ethics is good what it tries to explain but I also think it is too rigid. What do you guys know of Kantian ethics?
