When Days are Stormy

Standing at the house post and slightly leaning on it, the woman held her tears. It was the day when all of her siblings took part in claiming everything which she inherited from their late parents.

She was the last child of all four girl siblings. Everyone of them got their inheritance when they married and went their way and lived on faraway lands with their husbands homeland or their workplace. The last child was also married and was living near their parents. They were blessed with 6 angels. The old man, her father has a lung disease and she would always be the one to bring him at the hospital. Her children took part looking after him while he was confined. Yet, she didn't say any words nor complain. She loved the old man and the old womam dearly so does her family.

It's been months since her siblings first attempted to grab the first land they were after. The case had gone quite sometime. Then another sibling has also something up her sleeve, to grab that piece of land where the rice granary has long been standing. After she was able to get hold of it, she sold it.

Next, another sibling whom the woman came after had served what she had been cooking with her siblings. To get the house and lot where their parents lived. She was able to persuade barangay officials on her side by saying it's their mother who gave it to her. The woman's older children tried to tell their side about what their late grandpa had once told and how they were able to put boundaries at the lot. The woman's husband tried to talked but he was strike by the officials to keep quite because they said he had only married the woman and knew nothing. But they let the sister's husband talk because he was also a barangay official on their respective place.

Their were people who were willing to help but alas, nkamalmalas nga palad. They were nowhere to be found during another meeting. Hands pointed at the woman, her husband and their children present.

The 3 sisters have professional children and some were abroad that they were able to pay those greedy officials while the woman have nothing to boast about and no money. Her children were still studying. The sister who was trying to get the house and lot even said that she sold her inheritance so that her children would be able to study college. Yet, no one stood among the crowds to oppose her statement and tell her that she sold what's hers and her children are already professionals and no reason to come back and grab what's not hers.

To her disappointment, all the witnesses kept mum while brngy officials were only listening to the the 3 siblings and disregarding the words of the woman. She completely and totally knocked down mentally and emotionally that she let her sister win.

One time, the 3 sisters went to the woman's residence in town wherein neither her husband nor her children had shown any hospitality. They told the woman how rude her family was. The woman replied that its them who made her family treat them the way they did. She did not teach her kids to be bastos but they had seen how inhumane the sisters had treated their mother. They had seen the pain, agony, the tears their mother had been through that they can't show respect to the sisters.

Not long when the house the woman had lived with her husband and raised their children was also being grabbed by the eldest sister. It was a house and lot their late father had given to her a long time ago. She even have an official paper of a deed of donation.

The tears the woman had been holding finally poured down while leaning at the post. She cried and asked the heavens to bring her died father from the grave and see what the sisters had done to her.

The woman got depressed. Thankfully, her husband and children had been there to support her. During those sleepless nights her husband would sit her up even at the wee hours of the night and prayed though the woman seem not to respond.

She was a strong woman, storm after storm, one became stronger than the former that turned into hurricane she was able to pick herself up slowly amidst the chaos the disasters had caused. It nearly blown her away but she managed to hold on with the strong support of her family especially her husband.

Constant prayer meeting, devotion and bible study was held at their residence. Their brothers and sisters in faith never left them, one reason she was able to slowly get on her feet again. They had a strong faith in God that they were not able to spell curse against the 3 sisters. Rather, they prayed for them.

In between and during those storms, the woman and her husband often sing praises even at the middle of the night or at dawn. They made each others stronghold. Though the husband, a man as he is even shed tears seeing his wife at her situation.

Days and months had passed after the great turmoil when one of the woman's sister was facing the same. The lot they bought a long time ago is being grabbed by the original owner which the care taker had sold to them. She spent a lot of money with the case and nearly got her jailed. But with money, she was not. Her health deteriorated. Thankfully, they were able to win the case with their money.

The storms of life vary from one person to the other, and no matter how it left you God's hands is there stretched out and you only had to reach for it.

Not all days are fine and bright
