Speaking of projects I've been putting off... I sat down and disassembled my laptop tonight, hoping I'd be able to get the part number off the display cable that (probably) needs replacing. The bad news is that I couldn't confirm the part number. If there's a label on that cable, it's on the side that's up in the display assembly and I wasn't about to disassemble that tonight. The good news is that when I reassembled the thing and powered it back on, the screen flicker was completely gone. 😁 The incidental bad news that I actually have to do something about sooner rather than later was that I opened the laptop's case only to have the heatsink spring up at me like a demented jack-in-the-box. I could possibly get away with just supergluing the broken plastic pieces that hold it down together, but the fan's been making questionable grinding noises for a while so I've just gone ahead and ordered that. On the bright side I don't need to spend more on thermal compound this time because I still have plenty left over from when I replaced the fan assembly in our Nintendo Switch. 😄
