Thursday night we sacrificed a small frozen thawed morsel to the Divine Beast, who graciously accepted our humble offering. Good thing, too, because if I'd waited until last night like I'd originally planned to do she probably wouldn't have accepted it. She's gone "into blue" and fluid buildup between the old and new layers of her skin has caused her eyes to become cloudy and opaque. The visual impairment usually makes them very defensive, so it's usually not recommended to try handling them in this phase of the shed. The eyes will clear up in a few days, and then a few days after that the actual sloughing of the old skin will happen. I'm a bit anxious about the process because this is the first shed she's had with us and there's a chance that it might not go as smoothly as it should due to conditions before we got her. My kids are anxious, too, but for a different reason: they want to turn the shed skin into jewelry.
