Blue eye-hole without bottom
The Blue Eye is the largest source in Albania. It is actually a hole where groundwater erupts through it, a hole whose depth has not yet been officially measured (some unofficial sources claim that the hole is about 45 meters deep, while others claim it is 80 meters deep…) .
This natural phenomenon is located on the western slope of the mountains of Mali and Gjerë, near the road that connects the cities of Sarandi and Gjirokastra. Although swimming and diving in the Blue Eye is allowed, due to the water whose average temperature is 10 degrees Celsius, only the bravest swim in the spring. Tourists often come here to throw stones in the center of the Blue Eye, only to see the same stone on the surface again after a while.
