1521 - Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan arrives in the Philippines, where he is killed in a clash with the natives in late April. After three years of sailing around the world, in 1522, out of the five ships of his expedition, only "Victoria" with 18 crew members returned to Spain. This voyage sailed the Earth for the first time.
