There was an insect that really looked like a mosquito on this mushroom, but it was not aggressive. Maybe it was simply feeling too cold. Finally most mosquitos are gone! Polypores (known more commonly as tree mushrooms) grow on tree bark and decay the wood. I believe the species is Fomitopsis pinicola. According to the Wikipedia article, it prefers coniferous trees, but I think this was a broad-leaved tree. #Photography #Mushroom
