A sheep trusts the owner, It follows him everywhere. It thinks he will provide food, safety and shelter every day. Until one day the owner butchers the sheep or sells the sheep to the butcher. The sheep never understands why.

I think the sheep know this , but the sheed do not want to leave because of thing provided by the Shepard .. Thesame concept of Govs , wars and tax.
Interesting. Maybe domestication takes the surviving skills out of an animal.
I had goats before , they do not need us to feed them but they want us to take care of them. Many people just open the door of the barn for the goat to go out and feed itself in the morning and they come back at the evening to sleep. Some times they are out for several days if there is many green lands but they come back moat of the time.
