Bitcoin Cash is not decentralized. It is distributed. -------------------------------------------------------------- There are three kinds of systems in which nodes can be connected to a network. They are 1. Centralized 2. Decentralized 3. Distributed 1. Centralized systems are the traditional systems where one has to go to the centralized source for data and decisions. Eg: Government, Bank. 2. Decentralized systems have multiple central points and these central points are connected to each other, In this system, the individual nodes still depend on their central point. Eg: Embassies, shipping hubs 3. Distributed systems have nodes that are equal and the data is shared across the entire network and the network operates as one. Eg: Bittorrent I get slightly annoyed whenever I hear that the goal of cryptocurrencies is decentralization because decentralization slowly moves towards centralization in pursuit of efficiency. The smaller central nodes get consolidated to a point where there is only one central node. Whereas in a distributed system the network design implies that all nodes are equal participants, data is shared across the network and the decision-making happens at the node level. For me, Bitcoin cash's (Bitcoin too) payment broadcast model always seemed like a distributed system instead of a decentralized system. The lightning network seems like a decentralized system. So, I think we should say the goal of cryptocurrency is to achieve as much distribution as possible instead of decentralization.
