Sunday's Reflection Series #1: Humble Ourselves and Follow God
Good day dear readers!
Oh how time flies so fast, it's just like the weekend has started but now it's already Sunday evening waiting for Monday to come. Sunday is also the day of rest from the whole week of hustling and also the day that our Lord called us to His church.
Did you go to church today? I did and I suddenly came up with this idea to wrote an article series every Sunday regarding the gospel and make a reflection out of it, this way we can somehow freely discuss our thought on comment section of this article of how perceive the word of God.
The Reading
For todays gospel, the reading is from **Lk 5:1-11** wherein Jesus went to one of the boats near Lake of Gennesaret which was owned by Simon. There, Jesus instructed Simon to put their fishing nets in the lake and they were able to catch a huge amount of fish after a long day of not getting any fish before Jesus came. Simon asked Jesus to stay away for Simon knows that he is not worthy to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ but the Lord said to Simon that from that moment, Simon and the rest of his company will no longer become a fishermen but a fisher of men. https://bible.usccb.org/bible/luke/5?1
The Homily
In this reading, the priest who presided the mass highlighted the part where Simon realized he's not worthy to be with the Lord. The priest told us that no one in this world is worthy to be with the Lord but because of His grace, we are called to be with Him not just by listening to the words of God but to be a doer of the word of God just like the Lord's disciples who preached the good news to the whole world.
**The Realization**
I realized after this reading that the moment we acknowledge the presence of God in our lives the more we humble ourselves. Lately, I've been feeling so envious of the people around me whom I think have better lives than I have, who get to do what they want, buy what they want, travel where and when they want, huge salaries & nice houses. I feel very guilty about these thoughts in my head that I prayed so hard to God to let these feelings go. And after the homily was said, one thing comforted me is the fact that no one in this world is worthy, whether you are rich or poor, whether you have everything in the world or none at all, if you don't have Jesus in your life, everything is in vain for His grace is what makes us worthy, His words that we should live by for the rest of our life. Just like Simon who abandon His daily life to follow Jesus to the ends of Earth, to spread the good news, to be the fisher of men, I hope you & I do the same.

All in a Friday's Work
Good day dear readers! How was your weekend going right now? I wish we all have the time in the world to enjoy everything the world has to offer like the sun as it rises by the sea or by the mountains and embracing the cold air in an early morning breeze while drinking a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.
All these things may seem a dream for me because my reality is the total opposite! Right? Because of being a broke person trying to survive each day, my weekend basically kicked off with a busy Friday. Yes it is a busy Friday for me at work!
**WHEELS ON THE RUN!**
So in the morning of Friday, we went early to one of our project sites to deploy our workers to do some repair works on one of our client's house which has been damaged during the typhoon Odette (Rai).
If you were gonna ask me if there are still houses which hasn't been repaired yet after the typhoon Odette then my answer is YES. There are still a lot of houses which wasn't repaired yet and that's why after we deploy our workers in one of our client's house, we traveled directly straight to our another client located in Consolacion, Cebu.
As we arrived their, we made some sketch of the house to get the measurements of it since most of the damages are on outside.
And then, after we measure the perimeter of the house, we took some snaps of the damages for documentation and also for me not to forget what needs to be repaired.
After we're done measuring all the damages needed to be repaired for me to be able to come up with an estimated cost for quotation, my colleague & I went back to the office already late in the afternoon.
As we arrived at the office, I started doing estimates for all the project sites we needed to repair. I had completed some of my check list but a lot is still waiting on my list to be done.
And all I did for the rest of the day was computing the areas needed for repair and the estimated costs for repair.
All these things happen during my weekend, a very busy start of the weekend indeed but I am not complaining because this is how I earn for a living and it means this is a blessing. Although it may seem far from an ideal weekend getaway but still it's a blessing that I should be grateful for, thanks to God!
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend ahead even if the covid virus are far from over, just always practice the safety & healthy protocols and keep safe always not just for you but for the people you love as well.
Thanks for stopping by! 😊😊😊

Gone Girl, Gone From Read Cash
It has been six days since I've been active from read cash, I was gone for six days.
In those days, I have spent most of my time in my personal life. Starting last Saturday, January 29, 2022, I did my laundry worth of 1 week dirty clothes. I washed it using my bare hands because I don't have a washing machine. Later that day, my partner & I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries and wine for his upcoming birthday.
We spent the night eating fast food composed of coke float, burger and fries. The next morning, him and I woke up early and went to his auntie who lived in the south of Cebu. Once we arrived there, we feed his auntie's dog named George and we watched Disney's Encanto while waiting for the foods to be ready in advance celebration of his birthday. As the foods were already set at the table, we prayed for the safety & health and the birth of my partner and then we started to grill the foods.
After the celebration, we talked and talked for hours with his auntie and the children of his auntie. During the afternoon, we watched All of Us are Dead, the newest Korean series right which is trending on Netflix for it's a zombie series. I haven't been able to watch it completely though but I think that the series is good aside from the characters being so clumsy at times.
During the evening, we went to church around 7:30pm to attend the Holy Mass, luckily for us, we witnessed a fireworks display for it was a feast day of Sto. Niño after the holy mass. The place was too crowded but it didn't bother us anyway. All the people enjoyed the fireworks and went home happy.
As we arrived at the house of his auntie, his auntie prepared the foods again for dinner. We spent the night eating and drinking until midnight. The next morning, Monday, January 31, 2022, my partner's birthday, we traveled early back to the city. We thought we're gonna attend both our daily job but we were wrong, I've had a stomachache. It was worse, I've been back and forth in the CR for how many times and I even puke. It was a disaster really but I managed to survive thanks to my partner who have never left me alone even if it was his birthday.
On February 1, 2022, Tuesday, is the Chinese New Year. I was fine already from my upset stomach and my partner went to work already but I don't have a work on that day because it's holiday. I spent most of my time on that day unproductive, just laying on my bed watching some Filipino series titled The Broken Marriage Vow whose lead character is Jodi Sta. Maria, a well known actress in the country.
I'm really good at wasting my time maybe that's why my life hasn't been progressive at all, well anyway, as I was saying I spent my first day of February doing nothing.
Now on February 2, 2022 (Wednesday), I went back to work again on my desk job waiting for my boss to give me that raise. I'm still hoping though, even if it's already been a year since he gave me his word. Should I feel hopeless? This thoughts are coming in so fast again, I should stop this before it gets into me and lay waste on my mind for the rest of the day.
I just hope you spent well most of your days here on Earth for we all have counted days.
Enjoy and live every moment as if it were your last.
Thanks for stopping by!

I Just Want to Quit Everything Sometimes
LIFE! It is really exhausting living sometimes. I feel myself in that loop again, of not knowing what should I do to make life better. Damn it! Aside from being so lost in the moment, I find it exhausting to live because of how expensive living is right now and how limited our actions are given that the pandemic hasn't ended yet.
How are you coping up these days?
I can't even answer that questions in a straight line lately because I know I'm not doing fine. Sure you can say, it's alright because I have a job, a family, friends and loved one but sometimes, nothing really seems to matter.
You just feel the weight of the world all at once suddenly in the middle of the day and you just can't prepare for it. You see, I'm at work right now as I write this article and my mind is floating through space & time, thinking what am I doing with this life? Another existential crisis episode is happening to me, I guess. Maybe my username is called thelostadult because I really am and no one can help me.
Most people around me think that I'm an achiever, I achieve a lot of things that surely made them proud and even set their expectations higher without them knowing I struggled too. It's so hard really, sometimes I just want to quit everything and settle some place peaceful away from all this pressure thrown at me in this life. But I just can't. I can't.
I know and I believe I am meant for greater things. The problem is just I don't know how to get to those great things. Life's challenges have become more and more difficult each day, and waking up each day becomes unbearable from time to time. Maybe I need friends? Or a good laugh? But my friends are far from me. They're so far that I don't want to disturb them about life problems because I know they have their own problems too.
I just wish life was never this hard. I just wish my mind is as optimistic as other people. I really can't function the whole week without breaking down. I just wish I'm as strong as other people.
This article is just as random as my thoughts and I'm sorry if I just wasted your time reading this. I really just needed to ventilate my thoughts or else I'm gonna be crazy. But I guess Paulo Coelho is right, it's better to be crazy and happy than to be normal and bitter at all.

How Did I Ever Get So Lucky?
Lucky! A word that can be both good or bad but most people wanted to have a good luck, right? In this world full of uncertainty, good luck is one of the things we might want to possess with for it somehow gives us a good fortune that no one else can explain.
So, you might ask about my title of How Did I Ever Get So Lucky is all about? Let me cut your idea just right there, this is not about me winning a lottery or something. This is about me and how I find someone who so willingly accepted me for who I am and the way I am for over three years now.
As one of my sponsors @ErdoV had published an article few days ago about "Getting to know someone is like touching the raindrops that fall on the field once every ten years..." which explains that it is not so easy finding that special someone in your life who would love and respect you for who you are. That's why I told myself I'm indeed lucky because I already found mine and yesterday, we celebrated out third anniversary of being together.
Our story was not the same as of what it looked like as in the movies, we once live in the same boarding house back in college but our story did not start there. We used to date different people during that time and we find it hilarious how we ended up being together years after college. We're not yet married though because we still consider ourselves young but when the time is right, we'll sure get there but as of now, we just enjoy our lives individually and being together.
Since we both have works yesterday since it's Monday, we decided to celebrate our anniversary earlier last Sunday. We simply shared our dinner of Bachoy Soup, a Coke Float and Dunking Donuts in a mall food court and enjoy strolling around the streets of Colon. Here are some of the snaps I got during that day.
That's how we spent our day last Sunday in celebration of being together for three years. You might say, it wasn't as grand as what you have expected it to be but what matters most to us is that even in simple things, we find happiness just by being together.
If you have found that special someone in your life who in one way or another, accepts you for being you, cherish them and don't take them for granted for they only come once in a lifetime and also, it is really nice to have someone you can hold on to, who choose to stay with you when almost everyone on this Earth come and go.
If you haven't found one yet, just trust the process and enjoy every moment of being single for one day, it will come to you when you least expect it. Thank you for reading!
***I would like to say thank you to my sponsors who undoubtedly sign up to become one even if I'm still new to this.*** @ErdoV @honeyflex360 Thank You!
My Kind of Existential Crisis
For someone who has just been new to this adulting thing, I'm pretty sure have a lot of questions which cannot be answered in just a day. For one, I always asked myself what to do next for my future. Should I start a small business? Should I apply in a government agency? Should I apply abroad? Should I apply to another private owned company which offers higher salary locally? Or should I just stay on my current employer hoping to get an increase one day? Am I doing the right thing? Is this my life's purpose? Or is there something else? These are the things that goes into my mind every single day, and it's almost making me crazy. Can somebody help me? Please?

Well, for the past 4 years of my career, I always felt like there's something missing. Something that I needed to go through, something I needed to do than just doing what I am doing right now. It's been a heck of a ride of whether I should pursue my engineering career, or should I just change my field to something else. Maybe I should study another subject, or get another degree? Maybe I just need to have my master's degree? Or maybe I just need to become a potato for the rest of my life which makes me kind of stupid for wasting what I have right now. Maybe I need counseling? Urrrrgh! I really don't know what I'm doing with my life dear readers? Are you feeling the same too? I bet not.
As I have read different articles from this platform, most of other author's articles are about their life experiences and they all look so good to me, like they all know what they are doing with their life, and I'm just here feeling so shitty. Why did I become an engineer and just feel so messed up? Why? Is this what they call an existential crisis? I guess this is my kind of existential crisis.
To be honest, I really don't know how to overcome this messed up feeling I'm feeling right now. I don't have a map but I do have God.
And as the bible said, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”, Jeremiah 29:11.
This bible verse somehow calms my mind. It somehow gives us hope that everything will fall right into there places with the Lord. And I just hope that this feeling I am feeling right now will end soon. That with the presence of God in my life, I can be able to decide in accordance to His will and in that way, I know I am doing what I am supposed to do. That I'm doing my life's purpose, the purpose why He, gave me this opportunity to live on Earth.
And I hope one day, the next time I'm gonna write something about my existence in this platform, it is about what I have done to continue living, and to have all the answers I have asked above.
And I hope that on that day, you my readers will all be there to share with me a celebration of my life. Thank you for reading!

Insecurity Kills: Stop Competing with Other People & Love Yourself More
Hi dear reader! Or shall I say hi lost adults like me!
The weekend has passed and it's Monday already! Did you choose to wake up today to enjoy life just like what I said on my very first article? If yes, then let's cheers to that! And if it's no, don't worry, just take your time, the world can wait but don't take it too long before it's too late. This is thelostadult95, your writer for the daily challenges of adulting and welcome to my page!
For today's article, as you can see in the title, I emphasized the phrase "Insecurity Kills", only two words but could mean a lot. As someone who's exposed in a fast paced industry, wherein one skill is as necessary as the other, people compete hardly just to climb up that career ladder. It is indeed very hard to live each day trying to prove to your boss that you are worth that raise, or to your colleague that you know what you are doing, or to your parents that you can help them conquer your financial problems, or to that man that you are worth to be loved and chosen.
With all these things being said and so on and so forth, the list goes on and on and on forever, an adult like me for sure can't help but to cope up with these challenges and whenever fall short, insecurity creeps in which results to comparing ourselves to someone else and sometimes forget that the only person we need to compete to is ourselves.
Now, the question is how to kill insecurity first before it kills us. Here's a list for you my dear readers:
Insecurity blooms when we are faced with a challenge we failed to accomplish while someone else done it with ease. In order to not develop insecurity in the first place, one must give his/her best in doing something and condition your mind that whatever happens after the said challenge, it is for the best and there's nothing to regret for since you gave your best shot. Say for example, when you are put in a situation or in your workplace where you're given the same task as your colleague but he/she is doing better than you, always know that it is not you versus them, but you versus yourself. Strive each day to do better with the task, spend extra hours learning on how to do the task with ease and most importantly, coordinate & communicate with your colleague, ask them about the task given, don't let negativity make your mind closed.
When it comes to relationship, insecurity develops when your partner left you behind for someone else. You can't stop asking what's wrong with you or if there's anything you need to change in yourself in order for someone to stay in your life. Let me tell you this, once and for all, nothing's wrong with you. Love is another thing to discuss but insecurity blooms when you don't love yourself enough before committing to any relationship, and if ever he/she cheated on you, it's not because there's something wrong with you, but because there's something wrong in them or maybe because you are not just meant to be. So stop asking those questions to yourself, you don't need to compare with the other woman/man, you don't have to ask why. If you are faced with this problem, always go back to the word of God, "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
These two ways I wrote are just the basic things in killing insecurity first before it goes to your whole system. I hope somehow I was able to be of help in giving you ideas to become a better version of yourself by throwing away the toxic trait called insecurity. May we all strive to become better to one another and always choose kindness above all else.
Thank you for your time reading my article! I hope to see you around! And always remember to LIVE THE LIFE! GOD BLESS!
Hey guys! How's your weekend? Well, for me, I spent the weekend at the office. We kind of celebrated Christmas late because of the typhoon Rai which caused havoc in the Philippines. A lot of people had lost their home and their way of living, fortunately for us, construction companies, our work still goes on.
Later today, I decided not to go anywhere because of covid. The virus is still out there, waiting for the next victim, that's why I'm advising you guys to be more careful with the choices you make not just for your own good but for the people around you as well.
Have a HAPPY & SAFE WEEKEND you guys!
How to Save Money While You're Still Young
Hey folks! It's me again, thelostadult95!
Welcome back to my article and I hope the title for this one had catch your attention. If your new to my profile, please subscribe now! Who knows? You might be my 1st subscriber and I might as well consider you a lucky charm in this platform! How cool would that be?!
Anyway, as I was saying for this article, have you ever questioned yourself how to save money? Yesterday, I wrote an article about how lost I am in this thing called adulthood and there I said I am still lost but now I'm enjoying it. And today is another day of me being lost and it's also payday so I thought maybe it is timely that I write something so relatable to adults like me who face this problem every single payday and that is, "How to Save Money?".
Ever since I get my first paycheck, I always wonder where's my money going? It's as if I'm working for nothing, so I once searched google and asked about any tips on how to save money even if the salary's not too big while still helping my family and paying the bills, and here's what google said.
"USE THE 50 - 30 - 20 RULE"
Have you heard about this one? If yes, then congratulations! You're on your way of saving money for the future. But if no, don't worry, you still got time.
Now, for this rule, 50-30-20 means that divide your money or income into 50%, 30%, and 20%. Here's how I breakdown my money for you to have an idea.
50% of your money should be for your expenses, such as for your rent, water and electricity bill, internet bills, transportation, foods and all the other things that is necessary for your daily living. Please take note that 50% of your money should be for your necessities.
30% of your money should be for your savings. In this part, you can now have a money which is intended only for your savings or for your emergency needs. You can put in a bank or you can invest it.
20% of your money is for your wants. This is a reward for your hard work. This is one way for you to enjoy life by buying the things you like, or eating the food you crave for. Now, if at one moment, you don't use this 20% for your wants then you have an additional 20% of your income to your savings and that's good news for you.
Now that you have the idea of this rule, I hope that you would be able to start saving money from your income even if it's not high enough knowing that you are just starting in this journey of adulthood!
Thank you for taking time to read and I hope to see you around.
ALWAYS REMEMBER TO LIVE THE LIFE. GOD BLESS!

Hang In There Young Adult!
Hey! How's life going? If you asked me, I'd say I'm a little bit lost along the way called adulthood. **Are you lost too**? Well, I guess I'm not alone at this journey.
You see, life after college seems kind of blurry for me. I always thought that graduating and earning that degree would define my future in sharp detail but I was wrong. Did you experienced it too? When you're finally out of college, to be more specific, college of engineering, got that degree and earned that engineering license, you feel this surge of emotion that you can conquer anything the world has to challenge you for, until you had that first job, an 8-5 kind of set up, that makes you feel you're in a loop, a never ending cycle of waking up early, go to work, go home, eat and sleep and wake up early again the next morning. I've always asked myself since then, is this how it's gonna be for the rest of my life? Is this how I want to live? And slowly by slowly, a little bit of each day that I realized I'm losing my will to go on, to continue what I've started, there are even times when I felt like nothing's gonna change with my reality. Working hard, earning less. But then I recalled a statement from a book I have read that has changed my mind in a full 180, it was a book by the author Paulo Coelho titled "The Alchemist" that says, “When each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.” and that made me rethink my way of thinking. Instead of sulking on dark corners about how my life has been, I decided that I'm gonna make that change, slowly but surely.
As I am writing this article for the first time in this platform, please know that I'm new to this, exploring new things amidst the feeling of being in a never ending cycle of life because that's how you start breaking the loop, by changing the pattern of your day to day life. You can imagine me at my desk job on a lunch break, typing pretty hard on the keyboard trying to make new things for a change little by little each day. As a young adult, we must know that the reason our life won't change because we won't allow it to change. It is our choice that matters everyday. If you feel stuck, stagnant somewhere, it is because you let it to be. So if you're reading this, I want you to know that hang in there! Make that first step of change from your daily routine and break the cycle of just waking up because you need to go to work. Choose to wake up because you want to enjoy life, choose to go to work even with that little earnings knowing that you gain experience and knowledge each day. Choose to wake up to get lost in life but not worrying a thing because getting lost means you are new to something, and being new something means you are gaining experience you never had before. Hang in there! I'm with you, I'm lost too but this time, I'm enjoying it wherever life takes me.
By the way, please help me on this new journey by subscribing and I'll make sure to make worth to read articles for you!
SEE YOU AROUND AND ALWAYS REMEMBER TO LIVE THE LIFE! GOD BLESS!
