BCH was used as a scam similar to Litecoin with Kroger, which created that price spike.

  Can you explain how a volume spike is related to a scam? Edit, Oh I see people bought BCH thinking Kroger was accepting BCH. I like positive fake news for BCH. All publicity is good publicity.
