Agricultura en la ciudad (Agriculture in the city) ***Cosechar lo propio es gratificante*** Es un termino bastante peculiar, para una época en la que muchas personas adquieren sus alimentos en la tienda o el supermercado. Sin embargo, me complace decir que aunque puede ser muy agotador aveces, resulta satisfactoriamente gratificante. Hoy tuve una jornada de medio día en “la huerta” de mi papá. Sus cultivos están en la terraza de la casa, allí tiene de todo un poco y hoy nos toco trabajar en la cosecha de batatas, un trabajo de buscar al escondido. Las batatas suelen esconderse bastante bien. Resulta muy interesante escarbar y buscar, nunca se sabe si vas a encontrar una chica, mediana o grande, o tal vez una extra grande! Es como una aventura en la tierra. Bueno, en realidad es un pequeño oganoponico de unos dos metros de largo aproximadamente. Solo pudimos cosechar la mitad de la tierra, teníamos sembrada allí una mata de guayaba que se comportó como un buen defensa en un partido de fútbol: no dejo pasar a nadie más. La batata se esforzó para hacer lo suyo en ese lado del terreno, pero le resulto infructuoso. Ni una sola batata. Pero, de todas formas fue muy buena la cosecha para ser en casa: más de 2 kg de producto. Esa fue la ultima siembra de batatas en ese lugar, descubrimos que resulta mejor hacerlo en macetas, no tienen mucho donde esconderse, y la cosecha puede ser igual de buena o incluso mejor. La guayaba también la trasplantamos para una maceta grande, pues allí se volvio toda una combatiente echando multitud de raíces, pero poco fruto. Tenemos otra que de hace mucho tiempo esta en maceta, y le hemos cosechado buenas guayabas y en mejor número. Así que, cada quién en su lugar se desarrolla mejor. Ahora el organoponico nos ha quedado prácticamente liberado, podremos sembrar plantas de menor rango de exigencia como: tomate, perejil, manzanilla y otros cultivos más manejables, y que a su vez agoten mucho menos nuestras espaldas. Así que mi estimado lector, si tiene pensamientos de hacer algo de agricultura en la ciudad, anímese, que aunque físicamente en ocasiones sea algo agotador, a su debido tiempo rinde frutos y se siente bastante bien. >>>>>>>><<<<<<<< ***Harvesting the same is rewarding*** It is a rather peculiar term, for a time when many people buy their food in the store or supermarket.
