I didn't have what everyone called a "family" to support me with my financial, emotional, and mental needs. And I should have thought that it wouldn't get any better even after I turned 15 and went to my first concert, or when I was 17 and went to a science high school, or when I turned 20 and returned to our province. I always forgot to not let my guard down and trust people who show kindness to me, because it's nothing more than pity. Yes, I'm grateful for the times when I'm carefree and have someone by my side, but I shouldn't have let it sway me knowing that every time I enjoy something, there's an equally negative consequence. I'd forgotten that my life was not predestined like my friends', who have a "family" who is always patient and understanding to them. My life is defined by the phrase "you must always pay for everything that you consume and what makes you comfortable." I need to stand and live alone, sharpen these prickles, and protect my stems and petals. #RandomThoughts
