I have a half-dozen of these tubby grey squirrels here at the house. Getting that winter layer of fat to help keep them warm.
I have a few of those gray guys over here too and some black ones but they are more rare.
We have many grey and several albino/white squirrels but fox squirrels don't come into town, and black are almost unheard of though one was sighted about 7 miles east of where I live a few years ago. This was taken in my front yard the day after Christmas a few minutes after I had tossed some feed out for them. The snow makes great camouflage for the white one. My town (Olney IL) has the nickname 'Home of the White Squirrels'.
That's cool, I've never seen a white one before. Maybe next time I go to St. Louis I can swing by Olney to try and catch a shot of one.
