Guiding a child so that he learns to get along with his family, his friends and others; teaching him to behave in an agreeable way - that’s discipline. No one can tell you down to the last detail how to discipline your child because no two children are alike. But there are some principles which you may follow with confidence.
The first and most important guidepost is that all good discipline rests on your love for your child. When there must be correction or criticism let it be “You’re a good boy but why did you do that?” or “You’re a bad boy to do that.” In short, build him up first! He needs the affectionate support of both parents always. Give him some of your time for play, for advice, for talking over the urgent things in his mind.
