I almost hated the word 'ALMOST'

The thing about the word 'almost' is that it can scar you.

You almost top the class. You almost won the contest. You almost finished on time but did not.

FINISHING THE RACE IS THE BEST FEELING. ALMOST WINNING IT IS NOT.

That kind of feeling where you are in the edge of your sit because of the adrenaline and rush towards the finish line yet… you tripped, fell over and then, the crowd started to cheer for the other players…not for you.

The dictionary defined the word ALMOST by “nearly BUT,” or “all BUT”

It is truly one of the saddest words ever invented.

There is always a BUT that ruins everything.

You almost got the gold but it turns out that the bronze suit your performance better and then you will start to think that maybe you are not good enough? Maybe it is time to give up and then, your passion starts to go down the drain like it is not even your own passion at all. You will doubt yourself. You will blame everyone including yourself.

GAMBLE THE GOLD

During those times where you feel so lost and defeated…for some reason, hitting the rock bottom would mean drowning in your own thoughts and filling the incompleteness with your desire to find out where did you lack to lose that way. Those self-pity moments are hard BUT it so means that you will see your self more.

You will discover your way of handling things.

You will find out that you are truly IMPERFECT, and the word ALMOST is the PERFECT word for you.

Being so wrapped up in your sadness would make you value little happiness more.

If you won, then those other players would’ve felt so defeated and may have dealt with it the worst possible way unlike what you did?

What if you finished on time but did not get the ideal result that you would like and creating a crappy mess instead?

Somehow, after hating the word almost, you saw its relevance in your life. In how the world works. In how it completes the dictionary. In how it defines EVERYONE.

Having a BUT in the sentence is not so bad.

WHAT IFS ARE OKAY

He almost died BUT the medicines and treatment worked. He almost drowned BUT the rescue team got there on time. He almost gave up BUT continued anyway.

How can you hate that word all the way when it brought so many miracles and positive outcomes that surpassed all the downfalls it represented?

Having ‘almost’ in the sentence is not so bad after all. It may mean closed doors because God either wants us to wait because an open door is on its way or God wants to protect us because it is not for us to begin with.

We have no control over anything BUT God’s will is 100% perfect. It is His Will that should take over our lives so everything can make sense...

Losing makes sense.

Waiting makes sense.

Broken things can make sense.

I almost hated the word ‘ALMOST’ but all of the sudden, it all made sense.

Almosts are definitely sad in most cases. Disappointing even, abut as you've said it shouldn't be the case all the time

yes, it is both a blessing and a curse. but we also need to strive so that it is not always the case for us, right?

True true. Though it's really heartbreaking at times to heart that almost even in your best efforts. Something we all need to learn to live with, I guess
