Who pulled the plug? Ships stranded during low tide on the Bailiwick of Jersey (Bailliage dé Jèrri,) the largest of the Channel Islands just off the coast of France. Jersey is a British Crown Dependency but is NOT part of the United Kingdom, so it operates with its own financial, judicial, and legal systems. The tidal variations here are some of the largest in the world, so when the tide goes out it almost doubles the size of the island. I visited Jersey and the similar Channel Island of Guernsey back in 2012 and took this photo in the port of Gorey during low tide. I returned later to find all of the boats floating just fine later on after the tide came back in. #Travel
