Traditional Polynesian dance of the Rapa Nui people at the Ahu Tahai archeological site on the island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island.) Visible is the "Ko Te Riku" Moai, one of the famous stone statues of the island, with a pukao (topknot) on its head and restored coral eyes. Rapa Nui marks the southeast corner of what is commonly referred to as the "Polynesian triangle," with Hawaii and New Zealand forming the other two points. The language of Rapa Nui is similar to the native Hawaiian language (ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi) and the dance I saw here during my visit in October, 2015 could have easily been mistaken for one you would see in the Hawaiian or Tahitian islands. #Travel
