In this video, I will be taking you on a behind-the-scenes look at my studio and walk you through all the gear I use so you have an idea of perhaps what you may want to get.

Most of what I bought was over many years and mostly with cryptocurrency. I was able to get my first XLR microphone, headphones, interface, and speakers several years ago with a music grant after I won a contest for a song I made back when I was attending university.

I will include the Canadian Amazon links from what I have bought, but you can of course find the same products elsewhere on Amazon or elsewhere. None of these are affiliate links.*

Below are the Amazon links to the products I have purchased over the years:

Audio

You’ll want studio speaker monitors, a good sound interface, a good XLR microphone, gold plated XLR cables, a shockwave mount for your microphone + a microphone stand, a windscreen or pop filter of some kind for your microphone, stands for your speakers, acoustic foam for the speakers and walls, plus a good pair of headphones. Avoid wireless anything.

Monitors

I bought these at Canada Computers, and they are very low quality and mismatched sizes and color settings. I will upgrade them when I upgrade my graphics card to be all the same size, 120 Hz, same output connection, and all the same monitor for color consistency and a smoother visual experience.

·         1 – 28-inch MP67 Series LG monitors 1920x1080 60Hz connected via VGA

Do you prefer 1 very large screen or multiple medium sized screens?

Ergonomics

A lot could go under this section, but I just put the most obvious ergonomic things for my studio

Desk & Chair

I bought these so long ago at Staples & Ikea. I couldn’t find them on their website as they are pretty old and generic.

·         1 Manager’s Chair from Staples

·         1 Dark Brown Walnut Plywood Corner Desk from Ikea

Software

·         OBS Studio – Free – Used for recording videos and livestreaming - https://obsproject.com/

·         Adobe Premiere Pro - $$ - Used for professional video editing - https://www.adobe.com/products/premiere.html

·         Adobe Photoshop - $$ - Used for graphic design and thumbnails - https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/photoshop.html

·         Adobe Audition - $$ - Used for cleaning up audio in real time or post recording - https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/audition.html

·         Topaz Mask AI - $100 – For cutting people out of backgrounds. Very helpful for thumbnails - https://topazlabs.com/mask-ai/

·         Handbrake – Free – For compressing videos before uploading to the internet - https://handbrake.fr/

·         Storyblocks – $$ - For music, audio FX, stock footage, adobe after FX, animations, and more - https://www.storyblocks.com/

Décor & Miscellaneous Things

You can go with a green screen, but I personally like real things so I built out a background set based on things I like and things that would show my personality. All the electronics in the studio are controlled by smart plugs to make my life easy. I also have a diffuser and oil scent dispenser for aromatherapy.

My computer specs are as follows:

I bought everything at Canada Computer & Best Buy.

·         1 Samsung 2TB 870 QVO SSD

·         1 Samsung 1TB 870 QVO SSD

·         1 Kingston 250Gb SSD

·         1 Kingston 4TB HDD

·         2 16gb sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200MHz RAM

·         2 8gb sticks of GSkill Ripjaws DDR4 3600MHz RAM

·         1 EVGA SuperNOVA G2 80+ Gold 550W power supply

·         1 Carbide Series Spec-04 Mid-Tower Gaming Case

·         1 EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4gb Graphics Card

·         5 generic fans & 1 heatsink CPU fan for cooling

·         1 ASUS TUF Z370-Pro Gaming motherboard

·         1 Intel Core i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70 GHz

·         Running Windows 10 – 64bit OS

·         With 3 basic LED LG 28-32” monitors mentioned above

This was the second PC build I’ve done myself. I plan to upgrade my power supply and graphics card in the near future when it’s possible.

Products I used to use but have since upgraded from are:

The Blue Yeti microphone – USB microphones are not even close to XLR microphone quality.

Scarlett Solo – I upgraded to the UR44 Steinburg interface which isn’t necessary for most people, but I wanted multiple pre-amps and two headphone outputs.

Logitech 4k Brio Webcam – I used two of these for years before I upgraded to a camera.

This is as comprehensive as I can possibly be for what went into building out the studio and the gear I currently use and why I chose to use them. Hopefully. this will help you learn from the mistakes I made and save some money if you want to create content too.

Was this helpful or insightful? Did this give you any ideas for your setup? Am I missing anything essential? Are the visuals or audio more important? Let me know what you think about this in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe!

It is so nice to know how all your equipment and other devices were purchased out of your crypto earnings. I am genuinely amazed. I am so excited to buy something quite expensive (like a better phone) through my earnings in crypto too.

Awesome!!!

I was in great awe seeing all your purchases with cryptocurrency. I had been having some doubt ever since last month when I was introduced to noisecash. But this really charged me. That I can do something with cryptocurrencies and I think there's no going back for me.

Thanks for the post.

Instead of thinking how unfair life is, start thinking about how you can make it fair.
