Do we need to celebrate a birthday?
Birthday is one of the most exciting celebrations of human life. It is the anniversary of our birthdate. We celebrate a birthday because we give thanks for being alive, being able to do everything and we still have a chance to live with our family and loved ones. We celebrate birthdays by throwing a party. Set a party theme and decorate. Foods, drinks, and sweets on the table. Cake and candles are always present. Singing birthday song and making a wish before candle blowing. How and where birthday celebration starts? *According to the scholar that study the Bible, the Egyptians are the first one who celebrates birthday, but not their birthday in the world, but their birthday as a "God". The next one is Greek who took the idea from Egyptians to celebrate a birthday for their Gods and Goddesses. They offered a cake with candles as a form of tribute to the lunar goddess. The ancient Romans also get the first idea to celebrate the birthday of men by the saddest part is only for men, not including women. And in the 4th century, Christians pagan starts celebrating the birthday of Jesus as the holiday of Christmas. This is when Christmas day starts every year on December 25. Just like how we celebrate our birthdays now. The general idea of celebrating a birthday was starting to take off when other countries accepted the said tradition and begin to spread to the entire world.* I think that's how we start to celebrate our birthday. But it is not necessary to be elegant and impressive but at least we celebrate even in a very simple way. We need to appreciate and give thanks for being able to wake up every day and the ability to fulfill our duties in our daily life. I think that was the most important part of being alive. And the party was just like a prize. But for many aged people who can't afford to throw a party and already used to ignore their special day, said that you don't have to celebrate a birthday for it is repetitive and you ended up the same as last year. When our child's birthday is coming we are more than excited than them. We are excited to make their favorite theme party and decorate with their favorite cartoon and Disney characters. We satisfy their taste by bringing and brought their favorite flavor of cake and ice cream. I was inspired to write this article because today is Nov. 9 and it was my birthday. I am blessed to celebrate my 27th birthday with my family. No health issues and no family problem just finances, but we still manage to survive and lived every day like normal life. And that was the most important for me. I wish that pandemic will soon fade away.
