What does it means to have Ninang(Godmother) and Ninong(Godfather)?

Getting Ninong and Ninang is already part of the tradition and it is very common in Catholics and other Christian denominations. Ninang and Ninong also called a sponsor. You can get Ninong and Ninang when you're child is receiving God's blessing through baptism and wedding. Many of us got the wrong idea about having godparents. Kids think that godparents have the responsibility to grant them a gift during their birthdays and Christmas days. I think parents also misinterpret and failed to explain the significance of godparents to their children. As a parent what do you think about your child's godparents should be? They should have strong faith in God to help you raise your kids properly and remind you to be a good parent to their godchild. When you're getting your child godparents make sure that they are a good role model to them. Don't get godparents who are drunkard, womanizer and has many vices. Focus on their internal identities, not on their physical appearance, connection, and popularity. They should have enough wisdom and familiarity about raising a child. If you are looking for a sponsor for your wedding make sure that your godparents to be is a strong individual and have enough experience in relationships. Look for a sponsor who has a good amount of God's word and wisdom, not money. Get a Ninong and Ninang who's willing to help you in times of difficulty in your relationship. Don't just get them because they are wealthy, popular, and has many connections in your society. Don't just get them because they are a reliable source of material things. Facts about getting godparents They are supposed to be your child witnesses in baptism or the wedding. When you get a Ninong and Ninang they become second parents of your child. You allow them to have the right to influence your child. They don't have the responsibility to support your child's financial necessity and other essentials it's your job as a parent to provide those material things. They can give your child gifts but it's not mandatory. Having 2-3 godparents is more than enough than having a bunch of godparents that only means to show off. Having godparents is not bad after all but we should know their certain roles in human life. They are not like a crowning glory to individuals. They design to help parents to guide their children and raise them with the fear in our Lord.
