Attracted to 'Working Class'!
Both of my parents did 9-5 jobs. Now we are doing the same, not only that our grandparents also kinda fall in the same category.
People say, aww...you didn't manage to get off from the working class, become rich and live a comfortable life!
I mean, yeah that's true.
But you have to know that if I ever wanted that, right?
I have heard it from so many after marrying my husband; why him? He doesn't have a house or car on this name, he couldn't afford many things, I could easily choose others over him. I asked this question so many times to myself too after confronting the same again and again. But in the end, I can proudly say that I never feel guilty for my choice.
I'm attracted to the working class, the hardworking people, the hustler who are fighting daily in their life.
I find it extraordinary and fascinating to see those who are in a continuous fight in life, struggling in many ways, and still carries the same value.
Both of my parents did Government jobs, I have seen how they used to refuse different unethical work offers. It made me realize over time how important it is to maintain an ethical standard, never compromise with the values we carry and pass them to the next generation.
Quote unquote, I'm not saying who is living a comfortable life is anything bad. It's just, I would probably always choose the working class over them. It's something personal, don't feel offended by this.
When I take local transport for some work reason or when I walk around the street, I never ignore but notice the faces of the people that are working beside the street, pulling the rickshaw...They have a different face, a face of struggle. The sweat, the hard work says many things about them. I can see their eyes are telling thousands of stories. Maybe life is not treating them good but they are finding a way to fight and survive.
The same goes for us as well...
I follow a renowned photographer named GMB Akash who shares thousand of stories about the daily hustle life of the working class through his photograph. It always fascinates me to see how different we are but still the same.
I wish I could convey the message to them that they are not alone in this fight. Maybe our struggle looks different. But there are many like me, who prefer this struggle rather than having a comfortable life, who finds it more rational and meaningful way of living, who things that we can learn and contain more by doing so.
Maybe our struggle would not end very soon, maybe our next generation would also be a working-class but I would never feel bad about it.
I was once a corporate worker. I commute everyday. I do this 5 times a week. I was burnout because of the stress and the toxicity in the workplace.
