I was almost scammed. I applied for a translation job through Upwork, they contacted me and hired me externally (1rst red flag) so when it was time to pay, they sent me the payment to a platform that they told me I should open (2nd red flag), only that to withdraw the amount I had to buy a key. That is, pay to get paid. Obviously I didn't give them a cent, so I lost my time and my hard work thanks to unscrupulous people.

If you take a freelancing job, ask the client to pay at least 50 percent in advance and in your bank account. I generally ask for full advance payment.
I thought that since it's Upwork it was a legit client, but nope. I'll be more carefull from now on.
You can report such a job on Upwork I think. Those should be reported so no more people will be victimized. Sorry to hear you almost fell for it.
