Is sugar a drug?

Which substance on this planet is the number one consumer product? Is it dangerous to the health to eat sugar? If it is dangerous to the health but humans keep taking it, is it then a drug that made them addicted? Should a drug as addictive as sugar be given to kids? Is sugar being abused to manipulate kids?
