Joined this page a week or so ago and while I no longer have the original - moving country and vinyl really is not that pragmatic, I thought I would take you back to my beginning Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow was where it all started for me. Released in 1975 I got it in 1981 at the tender age of 9. I was a young starter. The band could be described as Elf with Ritche coming in as the replacement guitarist. To this day Ronnie Jame Dio is still to me the best metal / hard rock singer and while Rising on the whole (with the epic Stargazer - which is probably the best song ever written) is a better album this was where Dio found his style that at best had only been hinted at with Elf. So with The Man on the Silver Mountain, Sixteenth Century Greensleeves and Catch the Rainbow it is still a superb album. But there are other gems too such as Temple of the King and Self Portrait
