While I live elsewhere, thanks to the magic of a VPN I am still able to access my local news from where I come from and three related stories caught my interest and it just shows how confused the UK government policy is on the environment 1) A military base is installing solar panels ON SITE that will cover all non-driving power needs for the whole base. Its primary function is to train military drivers so inevitably the vehicles will still use petrol / diesel but this good news because it is at least an offset 2) Approval has been granted to a company for on land oil driling - if electricity is the future then why? Maybe we should leave the oil in the ground? 3) An agreement has been made to cover 7 sq miles of fertile arable land with solar panels which will provide enough electric power for a mediumly large city like Hull. Sounds good, but why take up good fertile land when we have plenty of roofs to but the solar panels on? I am itching to write a much bigger article on this, but as always nowadays it is dependent on BabyRah. In a few weeks GrannyRah is coming to stay for a couple of weeks so maybe then...
