Following up from my previous post about SWOT for personal development - and sharing it separately so it is distinct - as well as the fact my last post was quite long. Tool 2 for Personal Development is Your True Mirror Mirrors provide us with a reflection of ourselves, but as in a circus side show, mirrors can often distort the truth by making us look much worse (usually) or better (occasionally) than we really are. What we need is a true mirror to keep us grounded. This is a person who can be honest and direct and have no personal agenda (please note this is not "your best interests at heart" - there is a slight but significant difference) The simplest illustration of a false mirror is when boy likes girl and showers her with gifts and compliments - but she is not into him and all too often she has to friendzone him and he reacts by being nasty. This invalidates his compliments and just shows an immature response to rejection On the other extreme parents and partners will always tell us how wonderful we are - even when we aren't because they have our best interests at heart. This isn't always helpful. They are too biased in their support and it is said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions So we need it to be that person who we can be completely honest with and who can be completely honest with us. True mirrors keep us grounded and focused and stop us from falling over our own shoe laces! Who is your true mirror? Again from my own training resources which I am not tagging due to new Noise rules. #Business
