A mere 1452 words today - I might do a few more yet, but I have completed the chapter I started a couple of days ago. More importantly it is what is, as it turns out, to be possibly the most pivotal chapter of the whole novel - it's only possible competitor is the penultimate chapter that hasn't been written yet. One strange thing I do - well maybe not so strange - is that I write each chapter as a set piece and consequently I find myself writing where I feel the whim to. So there are gaps in my piece rather than a continuous manuscript. The first third is done and then about 20% of the novel is missing and then probably what will constitute the first third of the second half is done with just the final parts to finish off. Like George R Martin I know what i am writing and I might be doing it in a non-chronological (maybe even illogical) way for some but it works for me and unlike George R Martin at least I am getting my words down. And he gets paid millions for not writing.... humpf!
