A memory that I shared on my FB and thought it might be worth sharing here. My favourite shop when I was growing up had to be a small sweetshop. The windows and door were painted a light almost delicate sea blue. The entrance way was (is) kind of strange in that there is a main door and then there was a door to the left and the right for the sweet shop. When you stepped inside it was quite small but a true olde worlde sweete shoppe. On the left behind a counter stocked full of chocolate bars was the back wall which was covered in shelves that in turn were full of jars of everybody's traditional favorites that could be bought by the quarter which were dutifully weighed on an old fashioned set of scales and poured into pristine white paper bags (no plastic!). On the end wall was the penny mix counter complete with white mice, swizzels lollies, aniseed balls and much more and some of the sweets were even two for a penny. You were usually served by a kindly soft spoken lady of middle years and just occasionally by her husband if he had time to help out who was possibly even more kindly and gentle Do you remember shops like this? And yes btw the two kindly people were my grandparents
