Just had to give BabyRah his first lesson in the school of "life is brutal" In recent weeks he has got into the habit of screaming to get what he wants which means boob (and not when he is hungry - that of course is a given - feed him) or me playing with him. So he was being difficult and we know and have seen that he is perfectly capable of manipulating us. So there he was with his crocodile tears and MamaRah insisted that I don't play with him. So then it became a tussle of me giving him the minimum of comfort, but knowing I was there, and not giving into his demands. And of course you know what happened his cries were tearless and came in waves - which meant that he wasn't distressesd (I believe in comforting a distressed child every time esp at that age and I am not talking about a naughty child who is just simply upset after being told off). Of course the cycle was broken after only about 45 mins (expected longer). The only thing is MamaRah and the inlaws must understand we must do this consistently to stop his on demand crying. My worry is they might be too soft. Somehow I am able to distance myself a bit more and even some moments of his wailing were hilarious - usually when a wave was calming and he gave one last pitiful whine before stopping. I have the strength to do it. MamaRah knows its right but the grandparents are probably going to be too soft and that I am afraid might unmine what I am doing.

we can certainly hope so. I think there are some hard life lessons and tough times ahead but yes we are working on it.
