Reddit's co-founder Alexis Ohanian announced today that he will be stepping down from the Reddit's board of directors and asked the board to replace him with a suitable black candidate.

This is unprecedented and the right thing on so many levels. There is a HUGE diversity problem in the tech world which is generally dominated by White and Asian males and that space has a HUGE under representation of the black community where <1% of top tech workers are actually black so this is a great step that he has taken as a corporate social responsibility on his part to encourage diversity from his part.

He is also married to the African American tennis super star Serena Williams and they have a daughter together. He wants to be a role model for his daughter and many other children around the world. I hope others follow in this regard and make way for more diversity not only in terms of African American but also Women, LGBT, Latino in the workplace.

Well played, Alexis!

It's a great example to honour pf one's qualifications not to one's race . I think it will be a inspiring example for all the leaders. Thanks to inform us about that.

Race shouldn't be a factor when choosing someone for a tech job, but qualifications and availability.

I agree. But it's also important to provide opportunity to the under privileged. Definitely shouldn't be going overboard with it.
