Ark of Bukhara, Uzbekistan. This 1500 years old fortifications protecting famous town of Bukhara, which was attacked often due to its position along Silk Road (20m high), these walls were only breached by Genghis Khan and bombs dropped by Red Army during Russian civil war. Bukhara was a famous center of learning, mentioned by all important philosophers of Islamic Golden Age including Omar Khayyám and Avicenna, who died in 1037 and is considered to be the father of modern medicine. And the next picture, just like this 9th century architectural wonder, Derawar Fort in Cholistan desert of Pakistan built by the Hindu Rajput king Rai Jajja Bhati from Jaisalmer is now on the verge of Collapse due to negligence by Government of Pakistan. #architecture
