There are only 6600 of this breed left in the world. They have a reputation for speed and endurance, intelligence, and a distinctive metallic sheen. A number of other colors are recognized, including bay, black, chestnut, and grey. Aficionados of breed claim that color pattern served as camouflage in desert.
