In Phongsavan, many cafes and hostels display as souvenirs the American shells and bombs that were dropped on Laos during the "secret war. A total of 2 million tons of bombs were dropped. No one has been held accountable for these crimes because the U.S. can bomb anyone and get away with it. I was amazed at the carelessness of the Laotians who so easily forgot about their past and never thought about how many of their countrymen died in this undeclared war.
