The giant panda is a calm mammal with a characteristic black and white color. The panda has become a national treasure in China, and has become a symbol for WWF since 1961. Pandas live in deciduous forests, in mountainous areas. They feed mainly on bamboo, which is why they choose habitats where it grows.
