"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly"
"The little prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery is one of my favorite books of all time. It's written in the way that a child can read it, but also has many levels, and it can be read more times while growing up, and each time discover something new and understand the book even more. Many popular quotes are from this book, among them, the one that I used in the title: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye".
Since I like to draw, I already have one "art wall" in my room, but for a while I wanted to draw something more. I decided it will be Little prince, but problem was the place of it. I don't have many more "good" walls in my room for drawing, and since I imagined it will be Little Prince on his planet, I wanted it to be above my bed. Above my bed is slope, not right ceiling, but still, soon I realized it would be too hard for me to do it on that height, and because of the slope colors will drop to my bed. In the end, I decided I will do it across my bed, even thought I had other plans for that little piece of wall.
The process was long, I don't even know how many days it took, but I didn't do too much each day, and I wasn't in a hurry and wanted to take my time. I used pen first to draw planet and little prince, and I was in luck because paint on my walls are washable, so if you draw on them, you can also wipe it off. Drawing a circle that big on the wall took time, and I am glad I could erase mistakes. Because the reference photo had very colorful sky above little prince, I decided to do it with watercolors because they are easy to mix, but it's not the same to mix them on paper and wall, of course. The result wasn't how I imagined, but I was happy with it. I did make a mistake, maybe you can guess where it is? I will fix it, eventually.
For now, I only plan to do a little drawing on the wall behind my bed, but it will be much easier to do, and it will be just black silhouettes. I will probably do it this summer. Other than that, I already have my "art wall" and I can add things there, but rest of the walls are safe, for now :D Beside this I also did three other wall arts, but not in my house. I do like to draw and paint, but the thing with wall art is that it is much harder because you are drawing everything big, and you need to take care about proportions, which is hard when you do big pieces. At last, for me it is.
Photos that I included in this article are original and taken by me (or my sister, because I am on the one).
Thanks for reading my post ^^
