https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/04/09/apple-kept-imessage-off-android-to-lock-users-in-to-ios I don't believe this is the case and I am absolutely 100% positive Epic Games are barking up the wrong tree here. Apple has on a number of occasions tried to make iMessage a platform agnostic standard and had tried to push the standard to the carrier companies as well as Android. The comment by Schiller about porting iMessage to Android "hurting rather than helping" Apple could easily be construed as pushing iMessage as a standard has no backing from anyone and therefore would be funnelling money into a void. That cannot be good for a company so why do it? Apple was blocked by carrier companies from making iMessage a standard because it meant that they would make no money off SMS messages like they currently do. So why would they support it. Android has no reason to support it because why would they? Despite the fact that it could help Android uptake for those who don't want to by an Apple device but who's friends are all on the iOS platform. So Apple didn't make an Android version of iMessage. Simple as that. Epic Games however have removed context and tried to make it out as though Apple is trying to lock people into iOS. But that doesn't explain iCloud, Apple Music, and even AppleTV+. #Apple
