A cat, with the help of its whiskers, is able to receive essentially the same information that our hands provide us with about the texture, shape, and other tactile properties of an object. Interestingly, the structure of the brain (brainstem cortex), which receives information from the whiskers, is somewhat similar to the structure of the visual cortex, which is responsible for processing visual information. #RandomThoughts
