Smudging is the building of smoky fires under the trees and letting the dense smoke pass through the tree canopy. Mango growers have traditionally smudged trees to induce off season flowering. For us, we do this to our trees to get rid of insects and other pests on the trees. It's a bit laborious but when you know it is beneficial for your trees you don't feel tired at all. Me, I love raking dried leaves even if it meant me having bruises and calouses on my hand dami ko paltos, kapal na kamay ko😄😄 Then I love smoking them. This is what we did the other day to our mango trees and cashew trees.
