i had a customer today casually suggest that some of our product outages were due to "socialism" and that it needed to be stopped. this puzzled me, as i work for one of the largest retailers in the US and we loooooove making profit for management and shareholders. examples of product stock inconsistency: we have plenty of Frito-Lay products on the shelf. we don't have any masks in adult sizes. i'm not sure which products this customer was looking for. i'm also not sure exactly what they meant by "socialism", if anything, but i find it hard to believe that a lot of recent hardship in the US has anything to do with "socialism," even if we take whatever broad definition this person may have had when they commented. for context: i lean left but i'd rather be left alone.
I assume they were referring to something like Venezuela, which the USA most certainly does not resemble. When I think of the American economy, I think of a merger between government and big business, under which the fat cats get fatter, and everyone else gets skinny. I lean right, but with a strong influence of anarchy. I too would rather be left alone.
