The sailors
You can recognise sailors from afar: knee-length trousers, bare feet and an unshaven beard. At sunset, they set sail on their boat and go fishing. They take a few things with them: an old blanket, a bottle of wine and a piece of bread. It is a difficult life to face: broken nets and hands full of calluses for rowing. How many times in the morning you see them return to the harbour tired, humiliated and with little catch. In the afternoon you find them on the pier, watching the weather to see if they have to go to sleep or set sail again. You only have to look them in the face to understand that they were sailors. For the time has stopped, they can do nothing about it. On Sundays, you find them all in church, the old fishermen, thanking God who protected them in the middle of the sea.
