This achievement popped up on my Facebook feed again. I realized that it’s been two years since I won the regional (or just around Nueva Ecija) marketing quiz bee in our area. This memory holds a special place in my heart, as I participated in it when I was only 19 years old. It was also the first competition where I competed with 56 students from different levels and from 8 prestigious universities. Take note that I was only in my 2nd year at that time, and winning the competition would feel like punching the moon. If you take a look at my probability of winning, it’s only 1.78%. Therefore, when I entered the competition, my sole goal was to secure a spot in the Top 10. That’s the only thing I aimed for since the students from CLSU were not eligible to participate. They were the ones who handled the event, so I was confident that I could at least make it to the final round. Until now, I’m grateful to God, since I believe He wanted me to win the Championship title. It’s unforgettable since I had a huge gap with my co-Araullian, who secured the 2nd place spot (a 25-point gap) during the difficult round. Take note that it should have been a 30-point gap, but I read the question about what BCG means incorrectly. I thought they only asked for the “B” in BCG, but they asked for the full meaning of it. Anyway, I just can’t forget how this achievement impacted me as a student and as a whole. I recall that the university that awarded me the title didn’t even give me a chance to pass the admission test before. But now, I am achieving a lot—to the point that I’m grateful they rejected me.
