Ishyut the "agta"
"Agta" in our local dialect or in tagalog, kapre. A kapre in Philippine folklore is believed to be a creature dwelling in huge trees. They are known as the tree giants. Here's a wikepedia link for you to read more about a kapre : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapre So talking about kapre or what I commonly known as Agta, they are believed to be holding a large cigarette and has that foul smell especially at night. We live in a rural area. In my place you will experience a view of mountains and dense forest. There are big trees which are believed to have kapres living. When I was a kid, my grandfather told me that he had an Agta friend in the big mango tree near our compound. The tree was planted by his parents and he grew up with it. It was a good friend and doesn't hurt anyone. The Agta was named Ishyut. Everytime we go near that tree, my grandpa would tell us Ishyut would be mad if disturbed by our loud voices. There was one time we were playing and my cousin stumbled upon a large root of the mango coming out from the ground. We really thought it was just a root but my cousin shouted and told us all to run away because he saw Ishyut's feet. We all ran away with fear. My grandpa only laughed and said Ishyut is only playing games on us. From that day on we never go to that tree. Few years back, we grew up and the tree was cut off. A house was built on that very spot and people living there are my relatives. They have several creepy experiences and called a herbalist (herb doctor). We call it albularyo in our dialect. The albularyo took a wine and broke an egg on it. Then I don't know what else more did he rub in his hands, it looks like an oil. He covered our eyes with his hands. As he is removing it away my eyes hurts but he told me to look at the wine glass. To my surprise I see a black creature, really big one. I kept blinking because my eyes really hurt and I see that black creature with his head curled from the ceiling. He was way too big that he couldn't fit the house. I ran out of the house and washed my face outside. The oil might have caused irritation to my eyes. But those were closed when he touched it. I don't know what happened. Then I remember it could be what my grandpa had told us before. Ishyut is real. It still lived there - my grandpa's friend. At first I got goosebumps but later on was happy to experience and see that unseen good friend of my grandfather.
