When the pandemic started in 2020, I also gave birth to my son in February 2020. Springtime was approaching and my husband started to work on our small terrain for our garden. I started to help in May 2020 which I was able to slowly recover. It was a very big job to do since the small terrain was full of trash and need to cut the grasses and trees. Actually, our neighbors own some farmlands. It took us several weeks to clean the area. We decided to have our small garden so that we can have something to eat when the pandemic is getting worse.

May 2020

I really enjoyed doing some work as it was springtime. And the weather was cool so I don't sweat that much. I only work at least one hour per day. If it wasn't raining then it's fine to work in the garden. When Alexandre starts to cry, that was the time I had to stop, go back to the house, and breastfed him.

June 2020

Every day became a routine to go to the garden and watered the plants. It was a nice feeling to see the plants growing and healthy. Although there were times I was just too lazy to go out because I was sleepy all the time. Some of the vegetables we planted were beans, spring onions, radish, and lettuce. The good thing about having farmer neighbors is that they can give you tips. Sometimes, they also give you their harvests like red tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green and red bell peppers, and cucumbers.

I Became a Little Farmer

To be honest, when I was in the Philippines, I don't have a green thumb. I never do the dirty work as I was too lazy. We don't even have a small terrain at home so we never had the chance to grow our own vegetables. But we had Home Economics at school as we need to tend our garden with our fellow classmates with the help of our agriculture teacher. For me, it was a different feeling to grow your own vegetables in your garden. Harvest and eat fresh.

Living in the Countryside

Living in the countryside means less pollution. My husband decided to leave the city and live here as it would be better for our growing family. Then pandemic happened. I felt like we were so safe as we are socially distancing from people. Every day we have fresh air and we hear the birds chirping. When I tried to walk to the forest, I saw a little rabbit jumping somewhere feeling like I was Alice in Wonderland. Seeing horses, cows and sheeps are everyday occurrences and so are the big tractors.

I used to live in a town turned into a city surrounded by neighbors. Sometimes you hear them singing karaoke. Living in the countryside here in France is new to me. I don't mind living here but I need to learn to drive a car.

Hoping you love my story here. And don't forget to subscribe.
